Hi PMSA Members!
As many of you might already know the PMSA is trying something different this year by introducing a community engagement initiative for our members to get involved with! If one or more of the following apply to you, keep listening! 1. You're a student leader on campus interested in organizing collaborative community projects with other student leaders. 2. You're passionate of a certain issue, but don't have the platform to act on it. 3. You're eager to get involved in an impactful community initiative but don't know how. 4. You can honor the commitments you make. We are currently in the process of setting up several mini-committees of students that are dedicated and interested in an issue they would like to see further explored and acted on! Each committee will focus in on one unique issue. Members will bring together their diverse experiences and skill-sets, in coming up with ways to target these issues either on campus or in Edmonton. Some examples of major issues that can be explored include: Mental health, bullying, smoking/substance abuse, poverty. However, we want to hear YOUR thoughts! What sets this opportunity apart? The diversity of the committees! We want to bring together student group leaders and change-makers from across the University to work together in coming up with creative, impactful, and most importantly feasible ways of effecting change! Each committee will have a leader to delegate and facilitate discussion and one PMSA executive to oversee things and assist the group in any way necessary. Project's will begin in January, however more information on start dates will be provided after December exams end. For now, please fill out the application (see link below) as this will allow us to begin develop working groups (based on interest and member experience). We look forward to your involvement and we're extremely excited to see what awesome ideas you guys have! If you have any questions, concerns, or comments do not hesitate contacting us! https://docs.google.com/a/ualberta.ca/forms/d/1c4knuzaqK0H2g7S4P7-KSOoo_thAXxuHUL-vrvdvNGw/viewform?c=0&w=1&usp=mail_form_link Punit Virk and Betty Wang VPs of Community Engagement Pre-Medical Students' Association (PMSA)

In case you missed our Local & International Volunteer Opportunities Seminar last week, you can download each group's PowerPoint Presentation from our website. Click here and scroll to the section about this seminar to download them. Please note that although Frontier College did not present, I have included their Program Listing, as they are still in need of volunteers. The programs focus on tutoring children/adolescents/adults, and the time commitment is only 1 hour per week for many programs. They have volunteer opportunities that fit both daytime and evening schedules every day of the week! I myself have been a volunteer with them for 3 years, and they are a wonderful team to be a part of! Regards, Mohit Hello PMSA Members,
